On Tuesday 10th September we were honoured to have His Royal Highness the Duke of Gloucester to unveil a commemorative plaque on the fridge and freezer at our new depot in Guildford.

Accompanied by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Surrey, Michael More-Molyneux, the Duke toured the warehouse, met volunteers, staff and suppliers who help make this work possible.

The Duke got the chance to meet some of the charities we support locally; The Amber Foundation, Zero Carbon Guildford and Surplus to Supper. These organisations all use the surplus food we provide to help people in Surrey.

We were also joined by a number of our suppliers Host Hospitality, Barfoots and KFC who provide food regionally and nationally to the FareShare network.

“We are deeply honoured to have had His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester visit our Guildford depot. Recognising the fantastic work our volunteers and staff do every day to keep our depot running smoothly and safely.  The opening of our new warehouse in Surrey this year allows us to make an even greater impact in our communities, ensuring that nutritious food reaches those who need it most.” Dan Slatter, CEO

Everyone joined together for a buffet meal provided by our Ambassador Gem Ogston, incorporating surplus food.
