Volunteering in Brighton

You can support our team in Brighton by becoming a volunteer.

All we ask is that you are over 18 and can give at least four hours a week for a three month period.

Driver

Be at the forefront of stopping good food from going to waste, along with a driving assistant, you’ll be the friendly face of FareShare Sussex & Surrey. Interacting with the charities and community groups, making sure they get the food they need. Shifts are typically in the morning and last an average of 5 hours. Drivers must be aged 25 or over with a full licence and willing to learn to drive one of our vans.

Warehouse Assistant

Come and help out in our Warehouse! This incredible team is the powerhouse of FareShare Sussex & Surrey, ensuring the wonderful produce we receive is picked and packed ready for delivery. There are often opportunities to head out on a van as a driving assistant.

Volunteer buddy

Join us as a Volunteer Buddy to help us continue to build an inclusive and supportive environment in our warehouse. You’ll work one-on-one with volunteers who need extra assistance, helping them achieve their goals and build confidence.

You’ll be part of a supportive team, with regular check-ins from the Volunteer and Warehouse team. Ideal candidates are patient, friendly, and communicative, with a background in support roles or a willingness to learn and upskill.

E- Cargo Bike rider

A role made for cycling enthusiasts and outdoor lovers. With our electric cargo bike, you will be the vital link between us and the charities, getting the food to where it’s needed across Brighton and Hove. There is an opportunity to trial the bike initially and do a shadow shift once the training is completed.

Chef or Chef Assistant

If you enjoy getting creative in the kitchen whilst making a difference, then this might be the perfect role for you. Our team of dedicated chefs use the surplus food that can’t be sent out to projects to provide lunch for our team of volunteers. We have a well equipped kitchen and offer a Level 2 Food Safety certificate if you don’t already have one.
