NO CHILD SHOULD GO HUNGRY
THIS SUMMER
When schools close for the summer, so do free school meals
The holidays should be a time of joy and freedom for children. But for many families, it’s a time of real anxiety and food insecurity.
Behind closed doors, in homes just like yours, families are quietly skipping meals to keep the lights on.
When schools close for the holidays, so do free school meals. Suddenly, thousands of children lose access to the one hot meal they could count on.
There is an urgent and desperate need to supply more food to more people in our community over the summer holidays.
Your donation today will help us deliver fresh food to families who need it most. Every project we supply depends on us, and on your kindness.
We launched St John’s Community Support because there was a considerable and deeply concerning need for provision of food support to families whose children receive free school meals in term time, but who were struggling during the holidays. The need hasn’t gone away – and we simply couldn’t do this without FareShare Sussex & Surrey.

Why your support matters
We provide surplus food to 248 charities and community groups across the region, supporting those who need food most across Sussex & Surrey. Here are a couple who benefit from our work:
Knaphill Community Fridge in Woking is open five day a week, offering access to free food for those who need it in the community. Their range of fresh, chilled, frozen and packet food helps people make ends meet every single week.
St John’s Community Support in Guildford is open during the school holidays to specifically support families in need by providing free meals and food parcels.
